BASSETT – Just after midnight the 911 Center began receiving calls from multiple locations regarding flooding. One of the hardest hit was Blackberry Park Circle where many were evacuated by boat. Major roads and intersections were closed due to high waters making it difficult for rescuers. Bassett Fire Department and other local volunteers went door to door evacuating many including one disabled individual. Thankfully no injuries were reported. Multiple vehicles were damaged as drivers attempted to cross high waters. VDOT and Public Safety continue to servey the damage.
