MARTINSVILLE, VA – The Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce hosted their Grow Martinsville-Henry County awards ceremony on Tuesday afternoon.

We're going to celebrate five of our recent Grow MHC graduates who completed the four-week intensive success mindset entrepreneurial boot camp,” said Brenell Thomas, President of the chamber of commerce. To compete in the grow MHC program, these businesses have been in place for at least two years or more and as a component of the program the businesses completed a business plan and five of them pitched for the business incentive funding. All participants received this training at no cost.

During the event, a total of $32,361.25 was awarded to the five recipients.

Infinite Memories and Décor received $3,000, What’s Your Sign was granted $4,995, Meeks Recycling and Salvage was presented with $7,000, OakStone Health and Nutrition was awarded $7,366.25, and Access Therapy received $10,000.

A portion of the funds allocated to OakStone and Access were provided by the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission.

Thomas said each business will also receive a free one-year chamber membership.

The chamber says this initiative has had a significant impact, having successfully graduated 334 individuals from its training programs and awarded 90 businesses with over $666,129 in cash and in-kind funding.
