Fire reported at Department of Corrections in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, VA – On Monday night, a fire was reported at the Department of Corrections in Henry County.


Firefighters were called to the Patrick Henry Correctional Unit 28 on A.L. Philpott Highway at 10:31 p.m. for the fire.


Horsepasture Fire Chief William Martin told BTW21 News there was a fire in the laundry room of the prison that was put out by crews.


The Fire Chief said only a load of clothes was burned during the incident.


The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police responded to assist with moving inmates to a holding area while crews worked the fire.


The Ridgeway District Volunteer Fire Department along with the Henry County Department of Public Safety were also at the scene.


No one was reported injured.
