Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School placed on lockdown after texted bomb threat

HENRY COUNTY, VA – A Henry County middle school was placed on a partial lockdown following a bomb threat on Thursday morning.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office said they responded to Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School after a student got the threat via text message.

While investigating the threat, explosive detection K-9s from the sheriff's office and the Virginia State Police were used to check the school.

The threat was found not to be credible and the school resumed normal operations, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities are urging parents to have conversations with their children encouraging them to immediately report any type of threat they hear and also not to be involved in these acts as they can have “serious legal repercussions.”

Anyone with information about this is asked to contact the sheriffs office at 276-638-8751 or the crimestoppers program at 276-632-7463.
