FEED HALIFAX OPENS NEW HEADQUARTERS TO FIGHT FOOD INSECURITY

HALIFAX, Va. — Feed Halifax has opened a new headquarters designed to expand the nonprofit’s efforts to fight food insecurity throughout Halifax County.

The new facility, located at 60 South Main Street in Halifax, will provide additional space to store food, coordinate volunteers and serve more families in need. Food distributed through Feed Halifax helps provide meals for more than 25,000 people across the county.

Community leaders, volunteers and supporters recently gathered to celebrate the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Feed Halifax President Deborah Griles said the new headquarters will give the community a better understanding of the organization’s mission and the work it does to help local families.

The project was made possible through several fundraising efforts and community partnerships, including support from Hitachi Energy, Community Investments, the organization’s annual Turkey Trot fundraiser and a new emergency food pantry system.

Leaders say the headquarters represents more than a new building—it symbolizes the community’s continued commitment to ensuring residents have access to healthy meals and essential resources.

Feed Halifax hopes the expanded space will allow the organization to continue growing its reach and providing critical support to families facing food insecurity across Halifax County.
