Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Rockbridge County

ROCKBRIDGE CO., Va. – Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon, June 4, on East Midland Trail at the intersection of Memorial Lane in Rockbridge County.
The crash happened at approximately 3:06 p.m., when a 2018 Jaguar XF attempted to enter East Midland Trail but failed to yield the right-of-way.
The Jaguar was subsequently struck by an eastbound 2012 Honda Civic, according to authorities.
The driver of the Jaguar, Melodie Vohar, 78, of Lexington, Virginia, was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash but succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
A 78-year-old male passenger in the Jaguar was also wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
The 19-year-old female driver and 24-year-old male passenger of the Honda Civic were not wearing seatbelts and sustained injuries.
Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been publicly released.
Virginia State Police say the crash is still under active investigation.
Motorists are reminded to always use caution at intersections and to wear seatbelts at all times, regardless of age or seating position.
