CARROLL COUNTY, VA

CARROLL COUNTY, VA — Virginia State Police are investigating a deadly multiple-vehicle crash that occurred early this morning, November 30, 2025, on Interstate 77 in Carroll County.

The incident happened at approximately 5:09 a.m. at the eight-mile marker on the northbound side of I-77.

According to state police, a pickup truck traveling in the left lane collided with the back of a tractor trailer.

Following the impact, the pickup truck veered off the left side of the interstate and into the median.

In a chain of events shortly after the initial collision, a 2020 Tesla, which was changing lanes from the left to the right, struck a second tractor trailer.

The Tesla then crossed back into the left lane, where it collided again with the first tractor trailer involved in the crash.

Tragically, the driver of the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck and the two tractor trailer drivers were not injured.

Wintry weather conditions are being considered as a potential factor in the crash.

Virginia State Police have not confirmed the exact cause but have indicated that icy or slippery road conditions may have played a role in the sequence of collisions.

The crash remains under investigation as state police continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Virginia State Police.
