MARTINSVILLE, VA – As forecast models were hinting strong storms to move in Wednesday afternoon for our area, a number of customers are currently in the dark.
As of 6:15 PM Wednesday, Patrick County was in the lead with over 3,500 outages. Henry County had over 1,500 and Franklin County was near 800 outages.
According to Appalachian Power's website, there is not an estimated time of when electricity would be restored.
Forecast models are showing storms lingering into the late evening and into the early morning hours of Thursday, as a strong cold front will be moving through the area. Skies will clear in the afternoon, as winds will be out of the north west from 15-25 MPH. Higher gust over 30 MPH is possible.
Temperatures are forecasted to be in the upper 60's to low 70's and overnight lows in the mid to upper 30's, with frost possible early Friday morning.
