MARTINSVILLE, VA – (BTW21) Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) has announced the appointment of Dr. Colin Ferguson as the new Assistant Vice President of Workforce & Technical Programs, effective immediately.


Dr. Ferguson has been a vital part of the P&HCC community since 2001, serving as Dean of STEM, Health, and Applied Programs. Prior to that, he held multiple roles including Director of Enrollment Management, Accelerated Career Pathways Coordinator, Perkins Grant Administrator, and Tech Prep Coordinator.


“Dr. Ferguson brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for the members of our community to this new role," said Dr. Greg Hodges, President of P&HCC. "We are pleased to have his expertise as we continue to support students on their journey toward a financially stable future built in part by the credentials they earn during their time on our campus.”






Over the years, Ferguson has played a significant role in strengthening workforce development and academic programming at P&HCC. He has collaborated extensively with faculty to align curriculum with employer needs, streamline program offerings, and enhance transfer and career pathways for students.


In his new leadership position, Ferguson will help steer the college's strategic efforts to grow and adapt workforce and technical education, while continuing to foster a caring and inclusive campus environment.


“I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to working closer with our local industry partners,” Ferguson said. “I look forward to working with the multiple P&HCC partners that have such a tremendous positive impact on our local area.”


Dr. Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Emory & Henry College, a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and a Ph.D. in Community College Leadership from Old Dominion University.


His leadership marks a continued commitment by P&HCC to prepare students for meaningful careers and to strengthen connections between education and local economic growth.
