D.C. MAN ARRESTED IN LYNCHBURG SHOOTING AND ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

LYNCHBURG, Va. — A Washington, D.C., man is behind bars in connection with a May shooting at a Lynchburg gaming establishment that left one person injured.
The Lynchburg Police Department announced Saturday that 21-year-old Jovaun Adrian Lee was taken into custody Friday, July 31.
The shooting happened around 1 a.m. May 20 in the 2500 block of Memorial Avenue. Officers responded after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire inside the business.
Police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening.
Investigators allege Lee attempted to rob the victim before a fight occurred and the victim was shot. Police identified Lee as the suspect on the same day as the shooting.
Lee faces several charges, including:
* Armed robbery
* Aggravated malicious wounding
* Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
* Reckless handling of a firearm
* Willfully discharging a firearm in a public place
* Wearing a mask or hood to conceal his identity
