5 employees, 13 residents of Martinsville nursing home test positive for the coronavirus

MARTINSVILLE, VA – Over 50 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in the West Piedmont Health District on Tuesday.


Along with that, five employees and 13 residents of Mulberry Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in Martinsville tested positive for the coronavirus in the past two weeks, confirmed Kissito Healthcare CEO Robert McClintic III.


This means a total of 11 employees and 18 residents have tested positive for the virus at Mulberry Creek to date.


The nursing and rehabilitation facility, formally known as Blue Ridge Rehab Center and Blue Ridge Manor, was acquired by Kissito Healthcare.


Here's a breakdown of the 52 cases reported; 20 in Henry County, 15 in Martinsville with two hospitalizations, 10 in Franklin County and seven in Patrick County with two hospitalizations.


Henry County has had 692 with 74 hospitalizations and nine deaths.

Martinsville now has had 256 cases including 40 hospitalizations and three deaths.


Franklin County has had 192, with eight hospitalizations and one death.


Patrick County has had 176 cases with 36 hospitalizations and five deaths.
