
HORSEPASTURE, VA – The Henry County community is grieving the loss of a beloved public servant.
62-year-old Horsepasture Fire Chief Charles Bradshaw and his wife, 63-year-old Sherri Bradshaw, were killed in a single-vehicle accident on Friday night.
According to Virginia State Police, a 2017 Ford Explorer was going north on Bouldin Road when it was hit by a tree.
State police say the Ford then ran off the left side of the road and hit a pole and several other trees.
Both Bradshaw and his wife were wearing seat belts and died at the scene, according to police.
Henry County Board of Supervisers Chairman Jim Adams shared the following statement:
“The County is saddened to learn that Horsepasture Fire Chief Charles Bradshaw and his wife Sherri, died as a result of injuries sustained during a motor vehicle crash earlier today. Chief Bradshaw loved our community and served it well. We are grateful for Chief Bradshaw’s service, unwavering courage as a first responder, and his dedication to protecting citizens. We are also very grateful for the sacrifices made for our community by his wife Sherri. We offer our prayers and condolences. We ask our entire community to pray for Mr. Bradshaw’s family, friends, employees, and fellow firefighters.”
The crash remains under investigation.
