Cause of fire that destroyed Fieldale home under investigation

FIELDALE – A fire destroyed a Fieldale home Saturday morning.

At around 1:30 AM, the Fieldale Volunteer Fire Company responded to the home on Merriman Road.

When units arrived, they found flames coming from the roof and witnesses say the source was in the attic.

Volunteer fire departments from Collinsville and Horsepasture were dispatched for mutual aid assistance.

The fire was logged under control just before 2 AM.

The cause is still under investigation.
