BREAKING UPDATE: Vehicle Located in Homicide Investigation in Martinsville

(BTW21) MARTINSVILLE, VA – The vehicle connected to the homicide investigation from April 29, 2025, has been located. Authorities have confirmed the recovery of the gold 2022 Chevrolet Trax with Virginia license plates TGB-2200, which was previously sought in connection to the ongoing investigation.
The case began when the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a deceased male on the shoulder of the roadway in the 500 block of Lee’s Ridge Road in Henry County.
The victim, later identified as James Baldwin Jr., 34, of Stultz Road, Martinsville, appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
A subsequent investigation led to a residence at 1145 Ridge Road in Martinsville, where authorities obtained and served a search warrant. Evidence collected at the residence indicated that the homicide occurred inside the home.
The victim’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for a forensic examination.
The Martinsville Police Department is now the lead agency in the investigation, with continued support from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple persons of interest are being interviewed, although their identities have not been released at this time. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
