Bassett Man Killed in Carroll County Crash on Route 58

CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (BTW21) — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Bassett man early Sunday morning in Carroll County.
The crash happened at 1:29 a.m. on August 24 along Route 58 near Shaners Way.
According to investigators, a 2012 Toyota Venza traveling westbound ran off the right side of the roadway, striking a culvert and an embankment before overturning multiple times.
The driver, identified as 46-year-old George W. Houck of Bassett, Va., was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Police said Houck was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
State Police confirmed the incident remains under investigation.
