Barricade situation ends in Henry County, man taken into custody

HENRY COUNTY, VA – A man was taken into custody following a nearly two-hour standoff in Henry County on Thursday.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was at 58 Sanville School Road in Bassett attempting to locate a wanted person at 11:40 a.m.

Deputies say they found the wanted man, 30-year-old Jamie Lee Ore, outside of the home.

When a deputy approached Ore, he fled into the house.

The sheriff's office says Ore refused to exit the home, causing a search warrant to be obtained to enter the residence.

A tactical team and negotiators assembled at the home.

Negotiators were able to make contact with Ore through an open window and he agreed to come outside and surrender.

At about 1:30 p.m., he exited the home and was taken into custody by the SWAT team without incident.

Jamie Ore of 58 Sanville School Road was taken into custody for four felony counts of manufacturing, selling, giving, distributing, or possessing with intent to manufacture, sell, give, or distribute a controlled substance and a misdemeanor contempt of court.

He is being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.

Thank you Mr Romero for your live recording and commentary on this evolving event. I love knowing that even in this small community we have a fantastic sheriff's department working hand in hand with the City of Martinsville Police department. They're quick response with a tactical team is very reassuring , to both our safety and well-being in all our neighborhoods both city and county.

Especially during covid-19 I personally would like to thank the police and all first responders to their dedication and bravery during these trying times.... You are very much appreciated!! Stay safe and GOD BLESS US ALL!🇺🇸🇺🇸
