PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA – A young man died in the hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Pittsylvania County Tuesday.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Moorefield Bridge Road, two miles west of Mount Cross Road.
A 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was headed south on Moorefield Bridge Road, when it ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, crossed the centerline and hit a 2002 Mack concrete mixer truck, according to the Virginia State Police.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Tyler Anthony Scott Gunnell, 22, of Axton, was wearing his seatbelt and was injured in the crash.
State police said Gunnell was transported by emergency medical services to SOVAH Health in Danville, where he later died.
The driver of the Mack was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
This crash remains under investigation.
