Arrest and Resolution of Barricaded Subject Incident

On September 8, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Henry County Emergency Dispatch Center received a report of a domestic disturbance at 157 Wedgewood Rd., Ridgeway, VA.

Initial information indicated that Ethan Harr, 32, had threatened family members with a firearm and was also threatening self-harm.

Upon deputies' arrival, it was confirmed that the family members had safely exited the residence, but Harr remained inside, armed with a firearm.

Deputies attempted to communicate with Harr via the PA system in their patrol vehicle, but he did not respond.

To ensure a peaceful resolution, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office deployed the SWAT team and Crisis & Hostage Negotiators. After several hours of negotiation, Harr eventually surrendered and exited the residence.

Ethan St. Claire Harr, 32, of 2734 Eggleston Falls Rd., Ridgeway, VA, has been taken into custody and faces the following charges:

- Virginia State Code: 18.2-308.2 - Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

- Virginia State Code: 18.2-282 - Brandishing a Firearm

- Virginia State Code: 18.2-460 - Obstructing Justice

Harr is currently held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond. We extend our gratitude to the City of Martinsville Police Department and the Virginia State Police for their support and assistance in this incident.
