Argument led to Henry County shooting, man being hospitalized

HENRY COUNTY, VA – A 56-year-old man is hospitalized with serious injuries after the Henry County Sheriff’s Office said he was shot following an argument on Tuesday night.

Around 8:12 pm, deputies were called to 1429 J. S. Holland Road for a man who had been shot.

Deputies arrived and say they found David Goodwin, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Goodwin was taken to SOVAH Health in Martinsville and then airlifted to a Roanoke hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

The investigation shows that Goodwin and 35-year-old Dustin Lyn Hylton got into an argument in the home and Hylton pulled out a firearm and shot Goodwin one time.

Hylton was arrested at the scene and charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He is currently being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
