DANVILLE, Va. (BTW21) — Virginia State Police have filed additional charges against 47-year-old Lucas Jason Degier of Wilmington, North Carolina, in connection with the February 2025 shooting of Danville Police Department Officer Kayla Robinson.
Degier, who had already been charged with attempted capital murder, now faces charges of malicious wounding, arson, and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The incident occurred when Officer Robinson was interviewing Degier as a suspect in a hit-and-run crash.
During the interview, Degier allegedly shot Officer Robinson, leading to a tense and ongoing investigation by Virginia State Police.
