HENRY COUNTY, VA – Authorities have identified the body of an elderly woman found early Monday morning in Henry County.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office said they received a call of a deceased person lying in a field near the 2600 block of Figsboro Road at around 7:05 a.m.
At the scene, deputies say they found Rhoda Peters Fulcher, 88, of 30 Quail Oaks Road, lying on the ground.
Preliminary investigative findings indicate that Fulcher left her home walking sometime during the night.
She traveled about 100 yards from her home before falling down a steep embankment and suffering injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
Fulcher's body has been sent to the chief medical examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
