60-year-old man killed in head-on collision on Friday

FRANKLIN COUNTY – A 60-year-old man is dead following a head-on collision in Franklin County.

It happened Friday at 11:10 PM on Route 969 at the intersection with Route 611.

According to state police, a 2009 Honda Accord was headed west on Route 969, when it crossed the center lines and struck a 2019 Chevrolet Impala head-on.

The driver of the Honda was identified as James Wesley Matthews, 60, of Penhook.

Authorities say Matthews was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

State police say there is no information on the occupants of the Chevrolet at this time.

The crash is still under investigation.
