56-year-old man arrested for stabbing his brother in Bassett



On November 19, 2020, at approximately 9:02 am, the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call that an individual had been stabbed at 1919 Sunset Drive, Bassett. Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located a male victim at the residence with what appeared to be a stab wound to his torso.

The victim was identified as Graylin Elroy Callaway, 64, of 1919 Sunset Drive, Bassett. Callaway was airlifted to Roanoke, where he is being treated for a stab wound.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a verbal altercation occurred between Graylin Callaway and Conis Callaway. The altercation culminated in Conis Callaway producing a knife and stabbing his brother, Graylin Callaway.

Conis Lamonte Callaway, 56, of 971 Sunset Drive, Bassett, has been charged with one count of Malicious Wounding in reference to this incident. Conis Callaway is currently being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.
