COLLINSVILLE, VA – Four people were injured, two critically, after a stabbing at a birthday party in Collinsville early Sunday morning.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office said it was called to Stanley Court in reference to a man with a knife around 2:25 a.m.
Deputies said they found three Hispanic adults with multiple stab wounds and said they were told the suspect had fled the scene on foot.
According to the sheriff's office, one victim had stab wounds to both of his arms and another one had multiple stab wounds to his chest and rib cage area.
Both victims were airlifted to a hospital in Virginia for life-threatening injuries.
A woman was also found at the scene with a cut to her arm and was taken to SOVAH Health in Martinsville for her injuries.
Deputies along with officers from the Martinsville Police Department began searching for the suspect and located him nearby on Endless Road.
The suspect, Franky Uribe Merchan, 28, of 603 Forest Street in Martinsville, had a cut to his back and an injury to his head.
He was transported to SOVAH Health for treatment and was released.
Investigators determined that while attending a birthday party for a mutual friend, an argument began between Merchan and one of the victims.
Merchan went to his vehicle, got a knife, and then stabbed both of the victims, according to investigators.
Authorities said a woman tried to intervene and stop the incident, but was injured in the process.
Merchan was charged with three counts of malicious wounding.
He is being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
