SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, VA – Two bodies were found in Smith Mountain Lake on Thursday morning as crews searched for two missing boaters.
Two males went missing after their boat capsized around 3 p.m. in the area of the Anthony Ford boat dock in Pittsylvania County on Monday.
They have identified the victims as Landon Oakes, 21, of Danville, and Zachary Travis, 20, of Danville.

SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, VA – The search for two people missing after a boat capsized on Monday in Smith Mountain Lake has shifted from a rescue to a recovery mission, according to authorities.
Around 3 p.m., responders were called to the lake in the area of Marker R6 and the Anthony Ford boat ramp in Penhook for a report of two boaters on top of a capsized boat.
Emergency crews arrived and found the boat, but the two male occupants were not found
Crews searched for them well into the night and resumed the search on Tuesday morning.
