The statewide burn ban will go into effect on Tuesday.
The 4 p.m. burn law lasts until April 30 each year and is aimed to prevent spring wildfires.
This ban applies to all open air burning that occurs within 300 feet of woodland.
In addition, Martinsville City code 9-61 requires all open-air burning be complete by 8:00 p.m.
The city says the increased danger of fires spreading during this timeframe are due to high winds, lower relative humidity, and extremely dry fuels on the forest floor.
You are reminded to use extreme caution to remove all combustibles around the area to be burned and all outdoor fires shall be attended at all times.
As always, the only materials allowed to be burned are paper, cardboard, leaves, and tree, yard and garden trimmings located on the premises.
