Ridgeway Rescue Squad to offer bleeding control training

RIDGEWAY – Ridgeway District Volunteer Rescue Squad will help local residents learn the basics of bleeding control in January.

The Bleeding Control Basic (BCon) Course is designed for individuals who have little or no medical training but who may be called upon as immediate responders to provide initial trauma care and bleeding control to a victim of traumatic injury prior to the arrival of emergency medical services or in an austere environment. In this free course, you will receive classroom and hands-on practice with bleeding control, including the use of tourniquets and hemostatic gauze (QuikClot).

BCon will start promptly at 6 PM on January 25. It should last approximately 1 hour but is scheduled for 2 hours to accommodate questions or additional hands-on practice requests. The course will be held at Ridgeway Rescue Squad located at 108 Magnolia Street.
