UPDATE: Two charged in attempted armed robbery at gas station in Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE – Warrants have issued on one adult and one juvenile for the shooting incident that occurred on June 2.


Charges of Armed Robbery, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, Shooting into an Occupied Building, Use of a firearm in Committing a Felony, Reckless Handling of a Firearm, Felony Damaging Property, and Discharging a Firearm in Public have been issued on Marquis Antonio Waller.

Investigation has shown that Waller, 23, of Booker Road in Martinsville, attempted to commit an armed robbery of an individual, who was in a vehicle at the gas pumps located at 937 E. Church Street.


The victim of the robbery was also armed and upon drawing his weapon shots were fired by both people.


The victim was not struck however Waller was shot once.


During the incident, a juvenile accompanying Waller, whose name cannot be released due to age, also pulled a handgun and began shooting.


Juvenile warrants have been issued on that individual for Attempted Robbery, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, Use of a firearm in Committing a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possess Firearm Under Age, and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.


On June 8, the juvenile turned in to officers at the Martinsville Police Department where he was transferred to W.W. Moore, Juvenile Detention Home.


Waller is still under medical care at Carilion in Roanoke where he is being treated.


MONDAY UPDATE

MARTINSVILLE – Sunday at approximately 9:30 PM, the Martinsville Police Department was notified of a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of a convenience store located at 937 E. Church Street.


At this time evidence indicates that the incident was a result of an attempted armed robbery of an individual.


Several vehicles and the building were struck with bullets.


One person was shot with non-life threatening injuries who was taken to SOVAH of Martinsville and subsequently was flown to Carilion in Roanoke where he is being treated.


The case is currently under investigation and no further information will be given at this time.

The shooting occurred Sunday at around 9:35 PM.


The Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center reports that a man was shot in the thigh.
