Martinsville man charged after breaking into home, shooting another man

HENRY COUNTY – Monday at approximately 8:55 PM, the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call that an individual had been shot at 50 Ashley Dr., Martinsville, VA.  Deputies arrived at 50 Ashley Dr. and made contact with the victim, Daniel Thomas Brown, 37, of Ashley Dr., Martinsville, VA.

  Mr. Brown was transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville for treatment and later transferred to Carilion Roanoke Memorial.  Mr. Brown sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his head.

Through the course of the investigation it was determined that Dennis Dewayne Hall entered the home of Brown through a window.  Once inside the home, Hall shot Mr. Brown.  Hall and Brown have a history of arguments and confrontations.

Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Martinsville Police Department located Dennis Dewayne Hall on Clearview Dr., Martinsville, VA.  Hall was taken into custody without incident.

Dennis Dewayne Hall, 40, of Clearview Dr., Martinsville, VA was charged with the following.

· Malicious wounding

· Armed burglary during the nighttime

· Use of a firearm during the commission of a felony (2counts)

· Possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon

All charges are felonies.  Hall is currently held in the Henry County Jail without bond.

This incident remains under investigation.  Anyone having information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463).  The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2500.00 for information related to crime.  The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
