HENRY COUNTY - Over the past week, two coaches have step downed from their positions throughout the Piedmont District. Martinsville Varsity Football coach, Nathan Tanner has left the Bulldogs program in favor of another coaching position. Tanner will be taking over at Parksburg South in West Virginia. He was at the helm at Martinsville for two seasons leading the Bulldogs to a 6-15 record and one playoff appearance. Also, Magna Vista's head women's basketball coach, Vicky Hayes has vacated her position. She has been leading the Warrior girls since the early 2000's where they won a state championship in 2004. Regarded as one of the top women's coaches in the state, this definitely leads a void for Athletic Director, Travis Murphy to fill. Hayes will continue her academic roll as the school's counselor with no further comment at the time of this posting.
