Female airlifted to hospital for injuries received in Leatherwood crash


LEATHERWOOD – Wednesday at around 4 PM, emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle accident on Max Kendall Road in Leatherwood. A dark green Buick crashed and ended in a nearby creek. The female driver was trapped with smoke showing from the vehicle. First responders removed the roof from the Buick to get the driver out. Firefighters then sprayed the vehicle to stop a fire from starting. The driver received injuries to the ankle and was airlifted to the hospital. Henry County Public Safety transported the patient to the landing zone at 5115 Chatham Road.

Dyer Store Volunteer Fire Department and Axton Life Saving Crew assisted at the scene.

State Police is investigating the crash.
