MARTINSVILLE – Martinsville City Police often do road checks enforcing seat belts, state inspections and other safety concerns. No matter what type of vehicle you drive we want you to be safe on the roadways and always wear your seat belt says Martinsville Police. While officers were conducting a check point in May they had someone drive up on a riding mower. The officers understood the operator's desire to help his neighbor by going to mow his yard but the officers had to explain that it is not only dangerous to ride in the street on a mower it is also illegal. Virginia State law also prohibits the use of ATVs. The "Click It or Ticket" campaign will run through June 4. The goal is to educate the public and enforce the law requiring everyone in vehicles to wear seat belts. #ClickitorTicket
