HENRY COUNTY – Virginia State Police is investigating a single vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred on Friday (Mar 15) at 10:30 a.m.on Route 1720, just north of Route 58 in Henry County.
A 2003 Ford Taurus was traveling south on Route 1720 when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and down an embankment, striking a concrete storm drain.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Charlie Junior Phillips, 87, of Martinsville, Va. Mr. Phillips was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
