MARTINSVILLE, VA – For the final Black History Month event, Patrick Henry Community College hosted a presentation by local producer, author, and spoken word artist Natalie Hodge.
Listeners explored the African American experience through poetry, song lyrics and pictures.
“I am excited to share the complex history and traditions connected to the black experience utilizing the words of several profound musical artists,” Hodge said. “By isolating their incredible song lyrics, we will be able to embark upon a deep and liberating exploration of a highly diverse people.”
The “Lyrics to my Life” program used a wide range of genres and time periods to will highlight the trials and triumphs of African Americans throughout history.
