MARTINSVILLE – The Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) Jazz Band’s Holiday concert is back. This year, the popular concert is going to look a little different. The band is bringing their talent into the community. The concert will be at the Rives Theatre near the heart of Uptown Martinsville. Doors open at 7 PM on Friday, December 14.
The PHCC Jazz Band’s Holiday Concert features big-band style jazz renditions of holiday tunes – from Christmas classics to new favorites. This year’s concert will also feature vocalists Jaime Woodall.
“It’s hard to believe this is the third annual holiday concert. For so many people, it’s starting to become a holiday tradition, and we love that. Personally, I can’t think of a better way to relax from the holiday hustle and bustle and sink into with the spirit of the season,” says PHCC’s band director Kevin Lewis.
Tickets for the show are available for purchase at The Daily Grind, Rising Sun Breads and the PHCC Switchboard. Admission is $5. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the performance.
PHCC’s jazz band is a selective ensemble comprised of students from PHCC’s Music. Specialization program as well as music enthusiasts from the student body and the community. The aim of the program is to provide students with a competitive and performing musical outlet during their interim years between high school and a four-year university.
