Miss PHCC Scholarship Competition suspended

COLLINSVILLE – Patrick Henry Community College announced Tuesday that they will suspend the Miss PHCC Scholarship Competition.

"Due to the recent controversy surrounding the Miss America Organization, we feel that it is best that we suspend the Miss PHCC scholarship competition until this situation is satisfactorily resolved. The Miss PHCC Scholarship Competition has been a very positive experience for our contestants, and we are extremely proud of Demi Richardson and MacKenzie Lewis, our two Miss PHCC winners and Miss Virginia contestants. The entire Miss Virginia Organization has been extremely supportive of our college as we initiated this scholarship competition to bring additional academic opportunities to these young women. However, given the surrounding negativity and seriousness of allegations regarding the Miss America Organization, we feel that it is best that we distance ourselves from the parent organization at this time," Patrick Henry Community College said Tuesday.
