MARTINSVILLE, VA – A woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after she crashed in Martinsville Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of East Church Street and Watt Street.
According to the Martinsville Police Department, a 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 63 S was traveling west in the right-hand lane on Brookdale Street approaching the intersection with East Church Street.
The Mercedes-Benz then went through the intersection approaching Watt Street when it swerved left off the road, went across the sidewalk and came to a rest against a utility pole's guide wires.
Police said this knocked the traffic signal lights off the cable, which shattered in the street.
Police identified the driver as 67-year-old Diana Febinetz Pacifico of Mulberry Road in Martinsville.
Officers conducted a field sobriety test and arrested Pacifico for DUI. Further testing was conducted at police facilities.
She is being held at the Martinsville City Jail.
