Man arrested after fleeing Martinsville crash scene

MARTINSVILLE – At approximately 11:15 Sunday night, a white Nissan Altima crashed into a utility pole in the city of Martinsville. After the crash at the intersection of East Church Street and Chatham Heights Road, the driver fled on foot.

Later a Henry County Sheriff‘s Office deputy spotted the White male at the intersection of Hooker Street and East Church Street. The male was taken into custody by officers of the Martinsville Police Department. Martinsville Fire and EMS arrived to treat the suspect for a possible broken arm and to stop the bleeding from his head.

According to the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center, the driver has a driving record.
