MARTINSVILLE – New College Institute (NCI) is pleased to have a local business sponsor the Reading for Life program for the 2018-2019 school year for students in Martinsville, Henry and Patrick counties, and Carlisle schools. More than 960 families will be served by this program thanks to NCI and sponsor Jones & DeShon Orthodontics.  This is NCI's tenth year facilitating this program.

"Jones & DeShon Orthodontics is proud to partner with NCI's Reading for Life program. We are very excited to interact with our community's youngest learners and hope to help them fall in love with reading,” said David Jones and Nicole DeShon Nelson.

Reading for Life promotes a solid foundation of reading and a love of learning in the hope that all students will become avid readers, a known indicator for educational success.  Throughout the 2018-2019 school year, NCI staff will facilitate special guest volunteers to read to every kindergarten student in Martinsville, Henry County, and Patrick County.

“The goal of Reading for Life, is to put books in the hands of all kindergarten students and provide community role models to promote reading for educational success,” said Steve Keyser, NCI’s Coordinator of Educational & Community Engagement.
