First Martinsville resident dies after testing positive for COVID-19



MARTINSVILLE, VA – A resident of Martinsville has passed away after contracting COVID-19, the West Piedmont Health District confirmed to BTW21 News on Sunday.


The district's Population Health Manager, Nancy Bell, said she could only confirmed the death, but had no additional information to provide.


Along with that confirmation, Bell announced that six confirmed cases of the coronavirus were identified in Henry County on Saturday.

The cases were two men in their 50s, two men in their 20s, a woman in her 20s, and another one in her 30s.


Henry County's number of positive cases went up to 67, with six hospitalized and two deaths.


Martinsville has 30 cases with four hospitalized and the one death.


Patrick County remains at 14 cases and there are 32 cases with three hospitalized and one death in Franklin County.
