PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY – Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Pittsylvania County. The crash occurred Wednesday at 1:43 PM on Route 29, less than a mile north of Route 642.
A 2008 Pontiac Torrent was traveling north on Route 29 when it ran off the right side of the highway, struck the guardrail and then overturned.
The driver, Shantique L. Reid, 23 of Danville, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. She died at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
