HENRY COUNTY – Virginia State Police is investigating a single vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred on Friday at 3:25 PM on Original Henry Road (Route 606), three tenths of a mile north of Deer-Trail Road (Route 656) in Henry County.
A 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling north on Original Henry Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected crossing the roadway and overturned; ejecting the driver.
The driver was identified as Michelle Dawn Franklin, 42, of Ridgeway. Franklin was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and died at the scene. According to State Police, the passenger, an 11-year-old boy was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported for injuries received in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
