BASSETT – A never-ending headache for Philpott Lake officials has resurfaced.


Every few years, an article titled 'Bull Shark in Philpott Lake Virginia' is shared on social media and creates chaos.


"We have gotten many questions recently about the fake bull shark story. This story has been popping up every few years on Facebook and scares a lot of people. Rest assured there are no sharks of any kind in Philpott Lake," Philpott Lake officials stated on Facebook.


The article, which was created on a prank website, has been shared over 87,000 times.


Anyone visiting React365 .com will find the following disclaimer at the bottom of the website:
