HENRY COUNTY – The biggest Independence Day celebration in Martinsville and Henry County is set for Thursday.
Martinsville Speedway will host Celebration 2019 on July 4th with carnival rides beginning at 3 PM.
The event will feature not one, but two bands, Roanoke-based 'The Worx' and Detroit-based 'Chairmen of the Board.'
Attendees can also enjoy food, games and the largest fireworks show in the area.
Music will begin at 6:30 PM and the fireworks will begin at the conclusion of the concert.
For the 21st consecutive year, the Fuel For Families Food Drive will be held in conjunction with the event.
Everyone attending the event is urged to bring non-perishable food and personal care items and drop them off at one of several collection areas at entrance gates and in the carnival ride area.
Food Lion will match the number of canned goods brought to Martinsville Speedway.
The canned food drive benefits Grace Network of Martinsville and Henry County at a time when the food pantry is most in need.
There are some changes to Celebration 2019.
The biggest change will come in the form of seating.
Visitors will now sit in the Bill France Tower grandstands located in turns 3 and 4.
"The change will create less walking for guests and puts everything in a more central, convenient location," the speedway said in the release.
Additionally, the ADA parking will move from the traditional ADA lot, located on the Southside of the property, to the Driver/Owner lot located behind the Bill France Tower.
Shuttle service will be provided.
“We are always looking to improve every event we have, and Celebration is no different,” Campbell said. “By moving everything to one location we’re making it easier for people to get from the rides to the concert and fireworks.”
