Police ID woman killed when vehicle overturned in Henry County

BASSETT, VA – A single-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a woman.

At 2:12 PM, emergency services were dispatched to Fairystone Park Highway near Stone Drive for a crash.

A 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass was going west on Fairystone Park Highway when it ran off the right side of the road, hit a ditch and overturned, according to Virginia State Police.

The driver was identified as Rhonda Phillips, 62, of Bassett.

State police said Phillips was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
