The Patrick Henry Community College baseball team continues to play stellar deep into the 2009 season.

With another solid victory last week and the playoffs looming, Coach Chris Parker's Patriots are now 27-8 overall, and 6-1 in Region X. Patrick Henry has also proven there's no place like home. The Patriots are 22-2 at the friendly confines of  their own baseball diamond, including a perfect 4-0 record in their region.

Thomas Sappelt has been a monster for the Patriots, leading a solid offensive unit in batting average (.410), slugging percentage (.578), on base percentage (.520), Runs Batted In (24), runs scored (27), and doubles (10).

And by the way, Sappelt is a speedster, he's yet to be caught stealing this season while racking up 10 bases on the sly.

Jeremy Sprague has also proven to be a menace to opposing pitchers. Batting .365 and leading the team in hits (35), this slick fielder also uses speed as a weapon. Sprague has tallied a team-high in steals (12) and runs scored (27).

Hunter Kenney, Ed Clark and Chris Beazley haved also stepped up with timely hits and solid fielding down this stretch run towards the post-season

Austin Delmotte. D.J. Turpin, Travis Coffman, Shane Flynn and Jesse Reid have shared a majority of the workload on the mound. Delmotte sports an impressive 2.10 ERA, while Flynn and Turpin each have five wins.

The Patriots play at home on Wednesday evening.
