MARTINSVILLE, Va.
Employees of the City of Martinsville are pitching in to help make the holiday season better for community residents with special needs.
City employees donated $19,153, exceeding their goal of $17,000 for the annual United Way campaign this year. In addition to the monetary donations, there were a number of items brought in for the United Way “Day of Caring”.
The city’s annual “Toys for Tots” campaign received donations of more than 200 toys to be distributed through the Christmas Cheer program to local children in need. Collection boxes for these items were placed throughout the municipal building, police and fire departments, and the city shop.
